Iran latest: Second ship attacked in Strait of Hormuz

Despite ongoing peace talks, Iran struck a cargo ship traveling through the Strait of Hormuz, prompting the U.S. to return strikes on Friday. 

The United States and Iran agreed on June 17 to end hostilities under a 14-point memorandum of understanding. This kicked off a 60-day window of negotiations between the two countries. 

In a post on X following the U.S. retaliatory strikes, Vice President JD Vance said that if Iran "has disagreements about how the MOU is being applied, they can pick up the phone."

"But violence will be met with violence," he added.
