NTSB hearing on Alaska Airlines door malfunction

​​The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will hold a public investigative hearing August 6-7. During the hearing, the NTSB will gather sworn testimony about the January 5, 2024 incident involving Alaska Airlines Flight 1282. It is part of the safety investigation, testimony will become part of the public record. Back on January 5, a left mid exit door plug came off the airplane at an altitude of about 16,000 feet shortly after departing Portland, Oregon. The loss of the door plug created rapid decompression and the flight crew returned to Portland where the airplane landed safely. 8 of the 177 passengers and crewmembers reported minor injuries.
