Here's when 'Wicked' will be available for streaming at home

For those who haven’t yet seen "Wicked" the movie, it will soon be available for streaming at home. 

Universal Pictures announced on Thursday that "Wicked," starring Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, the future Wicked Witch of the West, and Ariana Grande as the future Glinda the Good, will be available to rent or own on Dec. 31. 

The film will be on Prime Video, Apple TV, YouTube, and other major digital streaming platforms. 

The streaming release will also include bonus content, like deleted and extended scenes and a sing-along version of the film. It will also feature commentary from the movie’s director, Jon M. Chu, as well as Erivo and Grande, according to the studio.

DVD, Blu-ray, and 4k UHD versions of the film will be available on Feb. 4, 2025.

"Wicked" tells the story of the witches of Oz. Elphaba is a "misunderstood young woman who has yet to discover her true power," and audiences meet Glinda as "a popular young woman who has yet to discover her true heart," the synopsis reads. 

"The two meet at Shiz University and forge an unlikely friendship – before their lives take different paths following an encounter with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Their extraordinary adventures will ultimately see them fulfill their destinies as the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good," it adds.

The highly-anticipated adaptation of the Broadway musical was released in theaters on Nov. 22 and has become one of the 50 highest-grossing movies of all time at the domestic box office, according to Deadline

"Wicked" is the first of two parts, and the second film, currently titled "Wicked: For Good," will be released in theaters on Nov. 21, 2025.
