Was Instagram down? Outage reports surged Wednesday morning

Instagram appeared to be down for some users Wednesday morning.
Downdetector.com, a website where users can report outages, showed thousands of reports of outages Wednesday morning.

Is Instagram down?
What we know:
According to downdetector.com, there were more than 11,500 reports of Instagram being down as of 9:25 a.m. ET Wednesday. By 10:15 a.m. ET, outage reports were down to 1,515. By 11:10 a.m. ET, outage reports were down to 246.
Other sites owned by Meta, including Facebook and Threads, had fewer than 100 outage reports as of Wednesday morning.
What we don't know:
It’s unclear how big the outage is, how many users are affected across the platforms, and what caused the outage.
LiveNow from FOX reached out to Meta, Instagram's parent company, for comment.
