Drone video captures breathtaking lightning over Guatemala volcano

A thunderstorm in Gautamala became a sight to behold as lightning strikes bedazzled the cloudy skies over the Agua Volcano.

Locals took in the breathtaking lighting show on August 17. 

TIkTok user Kerry Macuska posted a video on the social media platform, showing the lightning crackling above the volcano.

Dazzling upward lightning illuminates sky in Antigua

Dazzling bolts of lightning illuminated a cloudy sky in Antigua, Guatemala.

"We were in Antigua and started to fly our drone at sunset," Macuska told Storyful. "Then, we witnessed the lightning hit Agua Volcano over and over."

Another user also captured footage. 

The Agua Volcano, or Volcán de Agua, is considered an extinct stratovolcano. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, stratovolcanoes are formed t by the eruption of viscous lava flows, tephra, and pyroclastic flows. It could take a period of tens to hundreds of thousands of years to form.
