Norte Fire burns across 450+ acres in San Clemente, CA

Orange County Fire Authority officials gave a briefing on the quickly-moving Norte Fire on Friday night. Mandatory evacuation orders remain in effect as personnel battle active hot spots overnight. Driven by fierce Santa Ana winds after igniting late Friday morning, the 450-acre wildfire aggressively swept from San Clemente into neighboring San Juan Capistrano, damaging or destroying six homes. More than 500 personnel remain deployed to the uncontained blaze, which has caused one firefighter injury due to heat exhaustion but resulted in no civilian casualties.
