Karen Read found "not guilty" on second-degree murder

A jury found Karen Read "not guilty" on two of the charges against her and guilty on one of them. The jury found Read "not guilty" of second degree murder. Read was also found "not guilty" of manslaughter while operating under the influence. Read was found "guilty" of operating under the influence. Read, 45, was accused of fatally striking her boyfriend, Boston police officer John O?Keefe, 46, with her SUV and leaving him to die in the snow outside a house party where other local police and a federal agent were closing out a night of drinking in 2022. She was charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter and leaving the scene. Jurors began deliberating June 13 after weeks of often heated testimony from both sides.
