SCOTUS hears arugments on birthright citizenship
The Supreme Court heard arguments Thursday on whether federal judges can issue nationwide injunctions to block President Trump’s executive order ending birthright citizenship while legal challenges continue. The justices focused on procedural questions, including whether class actions are a viable alternative to universal injunctions. They did not weigh in directly on the constitutionality of the order, but a decision on the injunction issue is expected by late June or early July. Elizabeth Ricci, an immigration attorney joins LiveNOW from FOX's Carel Lajara to discuss what this legal showdown means for immigrant families and how the court’s eventual ruling could reshape constitutional protections under the 14th Amendment.
