Elon Musk calls imminent DOGE exit story 'fake news'

Elon Musk and White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt responded Wednesday to a Politico report that President Trump told his inner circle and Cabinet members that Musk would be stepping back from his current role at the Department of Government Efficiency in the coming weeks. Musk called the report "fake news." This “scoop” is garbage," Leavitt said on "X" Wednesday. "Elon Musk and President Trump have both *publicly* stated that Elon will depart from public service as a special government employee when his incredible work at DOGE is complete."
