LA officer finger bitten off: Suspect charged with 'mayhem,' held on $100k bail | LiveNOW from FOX
Officials said a Los Angeles police sergeant is without a part of his pinky after it was bitten off by a man experiencing homelessness. The Los Angeles Police Department sergeant was patrolling the Metro Red Line at Santa Monica Boulevard and Vermont Avenue in East Hollywood around 10:15 a.m. when a man aboard the train allegedly had drug paraphernalia on him. The LAPD officers approached the man and escorted him off the train. The suspect then became violent and attempted to fight off LAPD officers at the scene. A short time later, authorities said the suspect bit the sergeant. The tip of his pinky was retrieved by paramedics but apparently, doctors were not able to reattach it. The suspect was arrested and is facing several charges, including "mayhem." He is being held on $100,000 bail.
