Stockton firefighter shot & killed while responding to fire

Stockton firefighter Max Fortuna was shot and killed while attempting to put out a fire overnight. Officials received a 911 call for a dumpster fire and while attempting to extinguish the flames, gunshots rang out and Fortuna was struck. Fortuna, who served in the department for over 21 years, was pronounced dead at the hospital a few hours later. A 67-year-old man was taken into custody and a firearm was found at the scene.
