WATCH astronauts return splashdown off Gulf coast

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - Despite being in space for nine months, astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams won't break any records regarding the number of days they spent in space.
However, their unexpected 238-day mission moved the duo far up the list of recordholders.
The backstory:
Wilmore and Williams expected to be gone just a week when they launched on Boeing’s first astronaut flight last June.
They hit the nine-month mark earlier this month.
The Boeing Starliner capsule encountered so many problems that NASA insisted it come back empty, leaving its test pilots behind to wait for a SpaceX lift.
