The hit series "Ted Lasso" is coming back for a fourth season, Apple TV+ announced on Friday.

When is ‘Ted Lasso’ season four starting?

What we know:

Actor Jason Sudeikis, who plays the lead character "Ted Lasso" and is an executive producer for the show, said in a statement obtained by the Associated Press that the new episodes would be about taking chances.

"In season four, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be."

What we don't know:

Apple TV+ did not announce when the new episodes will be available or where they are in the production process.

Last year, a writers' room for the fourth season of the show was created with production scheduled for 2025.

What is ‘Ted Lasso’ about?

Dig deeper:

The Ted Lasso character was first introduced by actor Jason Sudeikis in 2013 to promote NBC Sports' coverage of the England Premier League.

In a short movie, Lasso was the coach of London's Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. And it was apparent that Lasso didn't know much about soccer.

The concept came up to write a show around Lasso’s character, but it didn't happen until television producer and screenwriter Bill Lawrence helped get it picked up by Apple TV+.

"Ted Lasso" debuted in 2020 and tells the story of a silly American football coach who moves to England to lead a professional soccer team even though he has no knowledge about the sport.

The show became a fan-favorite and won seven Primetime Emmy Awards, including outstanding comedy series for its first two seasons, according to the Associated Press. In 2024, USA Today reported that Season 3 of the show ended in May 2023 and was rumored to be the final season.
