A motorcyclist was killed after a tire broke loose from a vehicle on a Colorado highway.
The Colorado State Patrol said the crash happened Sunday morning on Interstate 25, near mile marker 154.
Authorities said a Subaru SUV was traveling northbound when the left front wheel became detached.
The tire bounded and rolled into the southbound lanes where it struck the top of a motorcyclist's helmet on a Harley-Davidson before striking a guardrail.
The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital and later died. The driver of the Subaru wasn't hurt.
Authorities said the investigation is still ongoing.
