‘F--- this!’ Terrified kayaker stalked by great white shark

A kayaker in New Zealand paddled for his life while being stalked for several minutes by a great white shark.

Matthew John Patrick Wells captured footage of the terrifying ordeal, saying it was an experience he’ll never forget.

Wells said he was out fishing for yellowtail kingfish on Jan. 30 when he spotted the predator in the water behind him.

By the numbers:

Wells said the shark looked about 4.5 meters long, which is more than 14 feet. Wells was about 4 kilometers (roughly 2.5 miles) away from a beach when the shark started following him, which equated to about an hour-long paddle for him, he said.

Wells said the shark followed him for about 8 minutes.

"He’s following me. He’s still behind me. He’s going at my rudder. He’s just following me. F—, how do I get him to leave me alone? Please leave me alone, bro. Please leave me alone," Wells can be heard saying to himself while paddling away.

"I’m sorry for all the swearing but I’m s—---- bricks right now," he added.

At one point, Wells considered what he could distract the shark with.

"I know I’m littering but it might take his attention away from me," Wells said as he threw a water bottle overboard.

But the shark kept following for several minutes.

What they're saying:

"The shark eventually left me unharmed, but the experience is one I will never forget," Wells told Storyful.

"It was a beautifully terrifying animal, an apex predator deserving of our utmost respect … I’m grateful I wasn’t on the menu this day."
