"I think everybody's mind goes there," he said regarding death. "It's part of the reality of life. Like, ‘Wow, this is really serious’ and ‘What's the worst that could happen?’ I've seen it so often in my family."

Amid ongoing rounds of chemotherapy, Coulier and his wife Melissa, who battles lupus, talked about how much worse the cancer symptoms could get.

"After [the fifth round of] chemo, he was like, ‘I don't know if I could do this again,’" Melissa shares. "He was like, ‘I’m prepared either way. If I die, I die. And if I can stay here, great. I want to.’ Those conversations were obviously so tough."

What's next:

Coulier revealed that he wrapped up his last chemo treatment in February, but he has one more test to determine if the cancer is in his rearview mirror.

He also hopes to get back to the hospital to ring the bell.

Coulier recently welcomed his grandson with his first wife, Jayne Modean.

Coulier announces cancer battle

The backstory:

Coulier publicly announced his cancer battle last November.

He said he suffered from an upper respiratory infection that caused major swelling in his lymph nodes. He told People that the infection led to his diagnosis.

"Three days later, my doctors called me back, and they said, ‘We wish we had better news for you, but you have non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and it's called B cell and it's very aggressive,’" he previously told the outlet.

What is non-hodgkin lymphoma?

According to the American Cancer Society, "is a cancer that starts in cells called lymphocytes, which are part of the body’s immune system."

Stage III refers to "the lymphoma is in lymph node areas on both sides of (above and below) the diaphragm or
the lymphoma is in lymph nodes above the diaphragm, as well as in the spleen."
