Here are the cities with the highest mortgage delinquency rates

The rising cost of housing has not only made it tough for consumers to buy a home, but for current homeowners to consistently keep up with their mortgage payments. 

When mortgage payments are delinquent it can result in late fees, credit score damage and eventually foreclosure. 

WalletHub released a report examining cities nationwide with the largest rates of late mortgage payments.

The personal finance website created its rankings of cities with user data on consumer mortgage delinquency rates between Q1 2024 and Q2 2024.

Based on their findings, Laredo, Texas ranked first, followed by Detroit, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Philadelphia, and Newark, New Jersey, which rounded out the top five.
